December, 2004 3 Photos in F-Stop Magazine

For the second month in a row my photographs appear in the online magazine f-stop. The theme this month was "Consumption". The three images that were picked were a still life of a salt and pepper shaker, an empty manayunk restaurant and a New Orleans restaurant window.

CORPORATE PURCHASE - Photos selected for new bank in Del Mar

It all started with an e-mail. “Do you have any images on North County? We have a client who wants some art for the walls of their new bank.” The e-mail was from Susan Street Gallery in Solana Beach, the Client, Security Business Bank. They needed 5 photos for a new branch they were opening in Del Mar.

The photos they we’re looking for were very corporate. Not my usual style. A couple of locations were decided upon and for the next few weekends I was up in North County clicking away. One location was Solana Beach Station. A very interesting but not very colorful building. I decided that the best time to photograph this was at sunrise. That way there would be the vivid blue of the sky contrasting the building lit by the warm internal lighting and street lamps.

The Del Mar Fair Photography Exhibition is a juried show that takes place every year. This year I decided to try my luck and enter. There were over 2,000 photographs entered of which a third were chosen for the show. One of the photographs I entered (West Chester Attic Window) was awarded first place in its class. The show runs from June 11 until July 5th. and is located 20 miles north of San Diego, at 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd. in the city of Del Mar, California.
